Out of My Comfort Zone Tag

So, Emma from emmmabooks created a brand new tag (you can see her video here) that seemed like a lot of fun! This tag is all about coming up with answers outside of your comfort zone, and it has one major rule:

You have to pick ONE GENRE that you frequently read about… and then, you can’t use ANY books from that genre while answering the questions!

I guess since mine overall genre is like…YA fantasy, I’ll have to use anything else!

1. A book that is an exception when it comes to genres or elements you don’t typically like:

I guess You by Caroline Kepnes? I guess because I always thought it was a romance, and I am so weird about romances anyway. HOWEVER, this is DEFINITELY not a romance. (To be fair, I have not read the book, but I did binge the series while I was sick. HOO BOY.)

2. A book you enjoyed from a genre you previously held some stigma against:

Probably In the Country We Love by Diane Guerrero. I always thought memoirs were kinda pretentious, but this was such a timely and important story.

3. A book you didn’t know was out of your comfort zone until you started reading it

Shockingly, American Psycho. I went into it being like, “oh I’m edgy, I liked the movie, blah blah blah, I got this.” Reader, I decidedly did not have it. I have never felt grosser in my life.

4. Pick a friend who motivates you to pick up books you might not normally be interested in—is there a book they convinced you to give a try?

My girl Destiny at Howling Libraries. I linked to her review of Kill Creek, one of the absolutely most horrifying books I’ve ever read, aaaand I loved it =D

5. A book that is out of your comfort zone, but you would like to read

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. It sounds so super cute!

6. A book or genre so outside of your comfort zone that you’ll probably never give it a chance:

Probably any of the Fifty Shades books. I’m okay with smut, but not down for abuse written as BDSM. #sorrynotsorry

If you made it this far, consider yourself tagged!
