Down the TBR Hole #20

I got this from Lost in a Story, and is a super fun (and simultaneously productive) tag to help you whittle away at those never-ending TBRs!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books (I’ll keep doing 15, since it seems to work well for me!)
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

I’m at 853. Not…terrible, I guess?

  1. Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa. Added April 24, 2017.
    1. I think I just straight up forgot about this book? Because this is my JAAAAAAAM. Keep.
  2. Lumberjanes, Vol. 3: A Terrible Plan by Noelle Stevenson. Added April 26, 2017.
    1. So I love Lumberjanes, but I didn’t love volume 2. But I’m still gonna read it! Keep.
  3. Baba Yaga’s Assistant by Marika McCoola. Added April 26, 2017.
    1. This stays on our staff recs shelf. And it looks so good. Keep.
  4. Monster on the Hill by Rob Harrell. Added April 26, 2017.
    1. Oh my god, this sounds so cute though! Keep since it’s so short!
  5. The Stand: Captain Trips by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Added April 26, 2017.
    1. This is like a tie-in for a Stephen King book I’ve been working on for actual years at this point. Remove, until I FREAKIN FINISH the beast.
  6. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta. Added April 26, 2017.
    1. I honestly have no idea why I added this? Remove because it sounds honestly super generic.
  7. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz. Added April 28, 2017.
    1. Obviously added a year before the allegations against him came to light…remove.
  8. Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini. Added April 28, 2017.
    1. The reviews on this are so negative but that makes me want to read it even more??? Keep.
  9. The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henriquez. Added April 28, 2017.
    1. TALK ABOUT TIMELY. This will be moving up my TBR list quite rapidly. Keep.
  10. Rip it Up and Start Again by Simon Reynolds. Added April 28, 2017.
    1. Here for postpunk, here for every book on music I can get my hands on. Keep.
  11. The F Word by Liza Palmer. Added April 28, 2017.
    1. Yeah, I don’t really ever see myself reading this. Remove.
  12. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. Added May 2, 2017.
    1. Yet another Owlcrate book I haven’t got around to reading yet…keep.
  13. In the Shadow of Liberty: The Hidden History of Slavery, Four Presidents, and Five Black Lives by Kenneth C. Davis. Added May 3, 2017.
    1. Again, suuuuuper timely and I’m starting to actually enjoy learning American history since we started out only kinda shitty. Keep.
  14. The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe by Ryan North. Added May 3, 2017.
    1. Yes. Keep.
  15. Green Witch by Alice Hoffman. Added May 3, 2017.
    1. I read Green Angel at a weird time (like, almost immediately post-9/11), and I had conflicted feelings then. And I think I’d have conflicted feelings about this one? I don’t know. Remove.

Removal Rate: 33%. Not too bad!
