Down the TBR Hole #17

I got this from Lost in a Story, and is a super fun (and simultaneously productive) tag to help you whittle away at those never-ending TBRs!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books (I’ll keep doing 15, since it seems to work well for me!)
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

I’m at 838 right now. I added some to my list…I’m THE WORST.

  1. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. Added August 25, 2016.
    1. Can ya tell I was a little jealous of other people’s small group readings in Materials for Young Adults? I actually have this checked out from work right now, so it’ll be on currently reading soon. So, to keep my stats good, keep.
  2. Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine. Added August 25, 2016.
    1. The sequel to the book above! Just in case I don’t like the first one for some reason, I’ll remove it.
  3. Daytripper by Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá. Added August 25, 2016.
    1. I think I added this just because my friend liked it. But it seems boring af for me. So…remove.
  4. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur volume 1: BFFs by Amy Reeder. Added August 25, 2016.
    1. I gotta read it. Come on. An Inhuman and a dinosaur? YUP. Keep.
  5. The Vorrh by Brian Catling. Added August 26, 2016.
    1. Nah. Remove.
  6. The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick. Added September 13, 2016.
    1. Why did I even add this????? Remove.
  7. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Added January 9, 2017.
    1. I think I have a copy of this at home? Keep.
  8. The Witch of Napoli by Michael Schmicker. Added January 9, 2017.
    1. I could see why I added this, but I don’t think I’d ever read it. Remove.
  9. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson. Added January 31, 2017.
    1. I know. This book has been out forever. And I’ve loved both adaptations. I just need to READ THE DAMN THING. Keep.
  10. Room by Emma Donoghue. Added January 31, 2017.
    1. Again, inspired by the adaptation. Keep.
  11. The Grownup by Gillian Flynn. Added January 31, 2017.
    1. I love Gillian Flynn. I power-read Gone Girl in like, a day before I saw the movie with my mom. So I know I’ll like this one. Keep.
  12. The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. Added January 31, 2017.
    1. I get that this is supposed to be a modern mystery. But I just don’t ever really see myself reading this? Remove.
  13. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Added January 31, 2017.
    1. I love World War Two stories. Even though we’re scarily close to World War Three. Keep. Because I need hope.
  14. The Pale Dreamer by Samantha Shannon. Added February 13. 2017.
    1. A prequel of sorts to my favorite series? KEEP.
  15. The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon. Added February 13, 2017.
    1. I OWN THIS BOOK! I EVEN SPECIAL ORDERED THE UK VERSION SO THE COVER WOULD MATCH. WHY THE HELL HAVE I NOT PICKED IT UP YET?! KEEP.

Removal Rate: 40%. Not as good as I’ve been doing, but we’re at least within the last year!

What would you have removed or kept?
