This week’s theme from Bionic Book Worm is basically the opposite of last week: “Books I Hated That Everyone Else Loved.” So let’s get to it!
5. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
I read this in my AP English class in high school and my best friend and I STILL do an annual hate-read of this book. It’s just so…ughhhh. The only character I loved is one we’re not supposed to like and I hate it.
4. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This book made me so angry, the fanbase makes me angry because they side with a douchebag abuser…Mafi definitely can write, because the imagery is lovely, but I hated this story.
3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I tried so hard to get into this book, and I couldn’t. I loved the Court series, but this one…I just don’t care?
2. The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic
It’s definitely a unique novel, and I love that all of her characters are flawed…but there just seemed to be so much drama for drama’s sake.
1. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I went into this truly expecting to love this book, since the lead has anxiety and I have anxiety. But god…I have never been that…awkward with it. And how she argues with her professor about her fanfiction? Who the hell ever thinks it’s a good idea to turn in fanfiction for a writing assignment when they’re in college? I could go on and on about how ridiculous I find Cath, but I won’t.
What are some of your unpopular opinions?
